Our Mission

The mission of the Romanian Heritage Awards is to increase the cohesion of the Romanian community and traditions, and therefore encourage their preservation.

Our Purpose

The purpose of the award is to encourage youth with Romanian heritage or connections to participate in their local community in a meaningful and lasting manner, work towards preserving the language and traditions, make the Romanian culture known in the US and have that participation formally and publicly recognized.

Eligibility

Academic Standing: A minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 (or the equivalent).

Community and Teamwork Impact: Both individuals and teams can participate. Participation in teams is encouraged. See details in the application form.

Age and Residence: Students must be enrolled in an educational institution in the USA and entering 8th–12th grade as of September of the competition year.

Heritage Connection: Applicants must have Romanian heritage or their project/experience must relate to the Romanian diaspora. There are no Romanian or US citizenship requirements.

No fees required. This competition is entirely free to participate in, except for travel, accommodations, and any participatory or entry tickets. Donations are encouraged to sustain the awards.
